TET consists of two papers
- PAPER 1: Candidates who plan to teach Grade I- V
- PAPER 2: Candidates who plan to teach Grade VI-VIII

Consists of 30 marks for each paper
Paper 2:

Consisting of 30 marks for Child development and languages I and II. And 60 marks for Maths, Science, Social Science.
The format in which the questions are been asked is in Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) each consisting of one mark with four options. This consists of no negative marking.

Validity
The validity period of the TET qualifying certificate was 7 years and the Government of India has extended the same for lifetime from 7 years in June 2021 with effect from 2011.
